SANE - Scanner Access Now Easy
SANE is a universal scanner
interface for Unix operating systems. It supports a lot of SCSI,
parallel-port and USB scanners. There is also support for some other
devices like cameras. You can find more information at the SANE website. If you want to use
SANE, please read the documentation on this site and the files provided
by the SANE distribution. See also below for other sources of
information.
This page is an overview of the backends and other SANE stuff that's
hosted on www.gjaeger.de.
This is not about Microsoft Windows. I can't help you with this operating system. Don't
ask questions about Windows drivers. No, I don't have drivers for XP.

Plustek backend: Will support USB scanners
based on the National Semiconductor LM9831, LM9832/3 chipset (aka Merlin).

Plustek-PP backend: Supports Plustek ASIC 96001,
96003, 98001 and 98003 based parallel-port scanner.

U12 backend: Supports USB scanners based on a
Genesys Logic parallel-port-to-USB bridge and Plustek ASIC 98003.
